Bertol Hut
Perched on a knife-edge ridge at 3,311 metres in the Swiss Alps, this iconic mountain hut is one of the most dramatically situated structures you will find anywhere in Europe, making it a compelling subject in its own right. The final approach up fixed ladders and chains gives you incredible tight compositions with the hut looming above against sky and glacier, while stepping back on the snow below opens up wider frames showing the full scale of its precarious position. Golden hour light hits the hut's weathered facade beautifully in the morning, with the surrounding peaks and Bertol Glacier adding depth to longer shots.
