Bow Bridge
Bow Bridge is one of Central Park's most iconic structures, a slender cast iron arch spanning the Lake with the Upper West Side skyline rising above the treeline in the background. The classic shot is taken from the water's edge on the north or south bank, using the bridge's curve as a leading line toward the city beyond; a slightly low angle near the shoreline helps frame the reflection when the water is calm. Early morning gives you the best conditions, with soft light, minimal crowds, and glassy water for clean reflections. Autumn is particularly rewarding when the surrounding foliage turns gold and orange. A 24-70mm lens covers most compositions well, though a longer focal length lets you compress the skyline behind the bridge. You can rent rowboats nearby to get a unique mid-water perspective.
