Alice Tully Hall
Alice Tully Hall offers one of the more striking pieces of modernist architecture along Broadway, with its glass facade and angular canopy creating strong geometric lines that reward careful composition. The overhanging canopy tilts outward dramatically, and shooting from the corner of Broadway and 65th Street gives you a converging perspective that emphasizes its bold geometry. A wide angle lens works well here to capture the full sweep of the facade and its relationship to the surrounding Lincoln Center plaza. Dusk and early evening are the best times to visit, when the interior light glows through the glass panels and contrasts with the deepening blue sky. You can also work the reflections in the glass during golden hour. The sidewalk in front gives you room to back up and frame the entire structure, and the area is easily accessible by subway.
