The Literary Walk is a broad, elm-lined promenade in Central Park, forming one of the most striking natural tunnels in any urban park in the world. The towering American elms arch overhead to create a cathedral-like canopy that draws the eye down the length of the path, making it a natural composition that works beautifully with a wide-angle or standard lens. Position yourself low and centered on the walkway to maximize the tunnel effect and use the benches, lampposts, and occasional statues as framing elements or foreground interest. Overcast days are ideal since the diffused light prevents harsh shadows through the canopy, but autumn brings incredible color and early morning on a clear day gives you warm light filtering through the leaves with far fewer people in frame. The walk runs north to south, so shoot facing south in the morning for the best light direction. (New York City, New York, United States)
