Brautemotjernet
Brautemotjernet is a quiet, mirror-still mountain pond tucked alongside the road north of Gol, where dense Norwegian forest reflects perfectly in the calm water on windless mornings. The stillness of the surface is the main draw, so aim to shoot early in the day before any breeze disturbs the reflection, and look for compositions that balance the treeline against its inverted twin below. A wide angle lens works well here, letting you include both the foreground water and the sky above the treetops. Positioning yourself low near the water's edge strengthens the reflection and adds depth to the frame. In autumn the surrounding birch and pine take on warm yellows and greens that make the colors pop, while misty mornings add a moody, atmospheric quality. The pond is directly accessible from Fv51, with no significant hike required to reach the shoreline. (Gol, Viken, Norway)
