Breiddalsvatnet is a long glacial lake in the Norwegian highlands, sitting at the threshold where the landscape transitions from open valley into the dramatic peaks of the western fjord country. The surrounding mountains rise steeply on all sides, their reflections doubling in the still water when conditions are calm, making a wide-angle lens your best tool here. Shoot from the roadside pull-offs along the southern shore to frame the full length of the lake with peaks converging in the distance; a low position near the water's edge strengthens the reflection and adds foreground texture. Overcast days actually work in your favor, softening the contrast between bright snow and dark water, while early morning often brings mist clinging to the upper slopes for a moody, layered look. The road running alongside the lake is accessible by car with minimal hiking required. (Stryn, Vestland, Norway)
