Bronte Beach

Bronte Beach is a compact and characterful Sydney cove where golden sandstone cliffs wrap around a crescent of sand, flanked by two distinct rock pools that add strong foreground interest to almost any composition. The elevated headland paths to the north and south give you elevated angles looking down across the bay, while shooting from beach level lets you use the wet sand as a reflective surface at low tide. The natural Bronte Rock Pool to the south is particularly compelling, with waves spilling over its rim during moderate swells. Sunrise is the prime window here, when warm light catches the sandstone and the beach is quiet before the crowds arrive. A wide angle lens works well for sweeping coastal compositions, and a medium telephoto helps isolate the cliff textures and pool details. Street parking nearby fills fast on weekends, so arriving early pays off twice. (Bronte, New South Wales, Australia)
