Cascade du Rouget, located near the village of Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval in the French Alps, is a breathtaking two-tiered waterfall cascading over 90 meters into a lush alpine setting. Nicknamed the “Queen of the Alps,” this powerful and photogenic waterfall is easily accessible by car during summer months, with a parking area just a short walk away. The surrounding cliffs, dense greenery, and mist from the falls create a dynamic and atmospheric scene ideal for long-exposure photography. Early morning or late afternoon offers the best lighting conditions, with fewer visitors and softer light accentuating the waterfall’s texture. In winter, the falls partially freeze, providing a completely different and equally captivating photographic subject. (Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval, Haute-Savoie, France)
