Columbia Icefield Skywalk
Perched 280 meters above the Sunwapta Valley, this glass-floored observation walkway gives you an almost impossible vantage point over one of the most dramatic glacier-carved landscapes in the Canadian Rockies. The transparent floor panels are an obvious subject, especially when you position a person on the glass to emphasize the exposure below, but the real reward is the sweeping view of the valley, distant peaks, and the toe of the Athabasca Glacier across the highway. A wide-angle lens lets you capture both the walkway's curving architecture and the vast landscape beyond. Overcast days soften the harsh shadows that can flatten the valley in midday sun, and morning visits tend to be less crowded, giving you cleaner shots without other visitors in frame. The skywalk is accessed via a shuttle from the Icefield Centre; it is seasonal and requires an admission fee, so plan accordingly. (Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada)
