The abandoned farmhouse at Dagverðará is a crumbling concrete structure from 1930, dramatically set where a river meets the rugged Snæfellsnes coastline, with the glacier of Snæfellsjökull often visible in the distance. The decaying walls, empty window frames, and attached barn create strong compositional anchors, and you can shoot through the hollow windows to frame the landscape beyond, a technique that works especially well with a wide angle lens in the 16 to 24mm range. The exterior is equally compelling; position yourself low to use the weathered foundation and overgrown grass as foreground interest with the sea or glacier behind. Overcast days actually flatter this location, keeping the light even and moody across the grey concrete. The site sits just off Route 54 and is easy to reach by car, with open ground around the structure giving you freedom to circle and find your best angle. (Dagverðará, Snæfellsnes, Iceland)
