Perched above the rugged lava coastline of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, this clifftop viewpoint looks out over a dramatic stretch of sea stacks, arches, and basalt formations that crowd the shoreline below Arnarstapi. The jagged black rock against the churning North Atlantic is the main subject here, and you have real flexibility in how you frame it. A wide angle lens works well for sweeping compositions that include the sky and foreground cliff edge, while a short telephoto lets you isolate individual rock formations and compress the layers of sea and stone. Shoot during golden hour for warm sidelight that brings out the texture in the lava, or on overcast days when soft light keeps detail in both the rocks and the bright water. The path along the cliff is easy to walk and offers multiple vantage points, so take your time and move along the edge to find your best angle. (Arnarstapi, Snæfellsnes, Iceland)
