Desjardinsville Lighthouse
This compact lighthouse sits at the tip of a rocky breakwater along the Ottawa River, its white tower and red lantern room making a clean, graphic subject against open sky and water. Walk out along the breakwater to get close and shoot upward with a wide angle to emphasize the structure against the sky, or step back and use a longer lens to compress the lighthouse against the river and the Pembroke shoreline across the water. Golden hour light works well here, with warm tones wrapping around the white exterior, and overcast days can give you even, reflection-friendly light on the river surface. The breakwater itself makes a natural leading line pulling the eye toward the lighthouse. Parking is available near the boat launch at the end of Chemin Sikorski, and the walk out to the lighthouse is short and easy on flat rock. (Desjardinsville, Quebec, Canada)
