Petawawa Point Beach

Petawawa Point Beach sits at the tip of a narrow peninsula where the Petawawa River flows into the Ottawa River, giving you water on multiple sides and a surprising amount of compositional flexibility for a small beach. The sandy shoreline curves naturally in both directions, making it easy to use the water's edge as a leading line toward the distant tree-lined banks. Sunrise is the standout time to shoot here, when warm light skims low across the water and mist sometimes lifts off the river junction, adding real depth and atmosphere to wider shots. Face east toward the Ottawa River for the best morning light, or turn back toward the Petawawa River for a quieter, more sheltered scene. A wide angle lens works well for capturing the open sky and reflections, though a short telephoto lets you compress the far shoreline nicely. Parking is close and the beach is easy to walk.
