Falls of the La Chute
The Falls of the La Chute are a series of cascading drops where the short La Chute River tumbles over layered rock ledges on its way from Lake George to Lake Champlain, creating a photogenic mix of white water, mossy stone, and surrounding forest. The La Chute River Walk Trail gives you easy access to multiple vantage points, so take your time working both the wider cascades and tighter compositions on individual falls. A wide angle lens helps capture the full sweep of the drops in context, while a mid-range zoom lets you isolate textures in the rushing water and rock. Overcast days are ideal here since the soft, diffused light reduces harsh shadows and contrast, letting you use a slower shutter speed for silky water without blowing out highlights. A tripod is useful for those longer exposures. The trail is relatively flat and accessible, making it simple to scout several angles in a single visit.
