Peggy's Point View

Peggy's Point View - Photo by Terry Branham1 / 1

Peggy's Point is a rocky shoreline outcropping on the western bank of Lake George, offering sweeping views down the length of this narrow, mountain-framed lake in the Adirondacks. The combination of exposed bedrock in the foreground, clear blue water, and the layered ridgelines receding into the distance gives you strong depth and natural framing to work with. Try shooting low from the rocks to bring the textured stone into the foreground, or step back to use the treeline as a frame around the water. Golden hour light in the morning catches the eastern mountains and reflects warmly across the lake surface, making it the ideal time to visit. A wide angle lens works well for capturing the full scene, though a short telephoto lets you compress the distant ridges for a more dramatic effect. The point is accessible on foot and the flat rocks give you stable ground to set up a tripod. (Hague, New York, United States)
