Perched on a wooded hilltop above Lake Zurich, this striking war memorial combines bold sculptural form with sweeping panoramic views, making it rewarding for both detail work and wide landscape shots. The centerpiece is an 18-meter bronze flame rising from a stone pyramid, and shooting from below lets you use the structure as a dramatic foreground element against the sky. For the broader landscape, move back toward the viewing area to capture the valley and lake stretching out below. Early morning light gives you soft, directional illumination on the bronze and stone surfaces, while clear days offer the best visibility across the valley. A wide-angle lens handles the full monument and scenery well, but a short telephoto lets you isolate the flame against a clean sky. The site is reachable via a short uphill walk through forest, so wear comfortable shoes and allow time to explore different angles around the base. (Küsnacht, Zurich, Switzerland)
