Niederdorf is Zürich's medieval old town quarter, a dense network of narrow cobblestone lanes, ornate fountains, and centuries-old facades that reward photographers willing to slow down and explore on foot. The tight alleyways create strong natural leading lines, and you can frame the twin towers of the Grossmünster rising above the rooftops from several angles along the Limmat riverbank. Shoot from the Münsterbrücke or Rathausbrücke bridges for classic compositions with the river reflecting the historic buildings on both sides. Blue hour and evening are particularly rewarding here, when warm window light and old lanterns add atmosphere to the quiet lanes without the daytime foot traffic. A wide-angle lens works well in the narrow streets, while a short telephoto lets you compress the layers of facades along the Limmatquai. The area is fully pedestrianized and easy to navigate, though weekends bring more crowds. (Zürich, Switzerland)
