Fosslaug is a small geothermal pool nestled along a river in northern Iceland, offering a uniquely intimate scene where steaming turquoise water meets a rocky riverbed surrounded by green meadows and rolling hills. A short walk upstream brings you to Reykjafoss waterfall, which pairs beautifully with the hot spring as a two-in-one shoot. Shoot wide to capture the pool with the hills as a backdrop, or get low to the water's edge to emphasize the steam and color contrast against the landscape. Overcast days are ideal since soft diffused light reduces glare on the water and brings out the greens in the surrounding vegetation. Early morning gives you the best chance of mist rising from the pool without crowds. Use the Reykjafoss car park to access the site, then follow the river path to reach the pool; a wide angle lens works well here. (Varmahlíð, Iceland)
