Gate to 19 Wing Comox
A CF-101 Voodoo jet is mounted beside the gatehouse at the entrance to 19 Wing Comox on Vancouver Island. The aircraft sits on a raised on a pedestal, giving it the look of being in flight above the base entrance. It serves as a nod to the aircraft’s role in Canada’s air defence and the base’s history. The display can be viewed and photographed from a nearby public intersection, so there’s no need to enter the base itself. As a bonus the Snowbirds host their spring training at the airfield around mid-late April each year, which can really add to the scene. The Comox Air Force Museum is located directly across the street, making it easy to pair both stops in one visit. (Comox, British Columbia, Canada)
