This roadside pullout along Grand Loop Road gives you an elevated view over the Yellowstone River as it cuts through a dramatic stretch of the park, with forested ridgelines, open meadows, and the winding river all working together in a single frame. Position yourself at the railing to use the canyon edge as a natural anchor and experiment with a telephoto lens to compress the river bends and pull the distant treelines closer. A wider lens works well if you want to capture the full sweep of the valley below. Early morning is ideal, when mist often rises off the river and the low angle light rakes across the landscape with minimal crowds. The pullout is easy to reach by car and requires no hiking, making it a quick stop worth building into any Yellowstone loop. Watch for bison or elk in the meadows below, which can add a strong foreground subject. (Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, United States)
