Tower Fall drops 132 feet into a narrow gorge on Tower Creek, with jagged volcanic pinnacles framing the top of the cascade in a way that is unlike any other waterfall in Yellowstone. The classic viewpoint from the developed overlook gives you a clean, elevated angle looking down toward the plunge pool, and this is where most photographers stop, but it is worth hiking the short steep trail down to the creek level for a more dramatic perspective looking up at the fall with the pinnacles towering overhead. A wide angle lens handles the full scene well from below, while a longer focal length lets you isolate the pinnacles against the sky from the upper platform. Midday light can be harsh and flat in the gorge, so aim for morning when softer light catches the spray and rock faces. The overlook and trailhead are easily accessible from the Tower-Roosevelt area of the park. (Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, United States)
