Granville Street Bridge
The Granville Street Bridge rises dramatically above False Creek, offering elevated vantage points over Granville Island, the marina, and the Vancouver skyline that are hard to match anywhere else in the city. Walk out onto the bridge's pedestrian path and shoot downward toward the colorful rooftops of Granville Island with the marina and moored boats filling the foreground, or turn north to frame the glass towers of downtown reflecting morning light. The wide bridge deck and its concrete pillars also make strong geometric subjects in their own right. Blue hour and golden hour both work beautifully here, with sunrise bringing soft, cool tones over the water and sunset lighting up the downtown skyline to the north. The pedestrian walkway is accessible from either end of the bridge; a wide-angle lens handles the sweeping cityscape well, while a longer focal length lets you compress the marina and towers into tighter compositions.
