Hanalei Pier
Hanalei Pier is a historic wooden dock stretching into Hanalei Bay, framed by some of the most dramatic mountain scenery in Hawaii. The jagged, cloud-draped peaks of the Na Pali coast rise behind the bay, giving you a strong backdrop no matter where you position yourself. Shoot from the beach to use the pier as a leading line pointing toward the mountains, or walk out onto the pier itself for wider views of the bay curving around both sides. Early morning is ideal, when the light is soft, the water is glassy, and the mountains often hold low mist that adds depth to the scene. A wide angle lens works well to capture both the pier and the full sweep of the peaks. The beach is easy to reach, parking is nearby, and low tide gives you cleaner reflections in the shallow water.
