Jotunheimen National Park

Valdresflya is a high mountain plateau cutting through the heart of Jotunheimen, where the old scenic road crosses an open, treeless landscape filled with shallow lakes, winding streams, and sweeping views toward jagged peaks including the distinctive pyramid shape of Mt. Bitihorn. The wide open terrain rewards wide-angle work, letting you incorporate reflective pools or frost-rimmed grasses in the foreground while the mountains anchor the background. Overcast light softens the contrast and brings out the cool blues and greens of the plateau, but golden hour on a clear day adds dramatic warmth to the rocky ridgelines. The road is accessible by car along Norwegian National Route 51, and you can pull off at multiple points to explore on foot.
