Kowloon Public Pier stretches out into Victoria Harbour and gives you one of the most direct, unobstructed views of the Hong Kong Island skyline available from street level. The wide waterfront promenade lets you move along the railing to adjust your framing, whether you want a broad panoramic shot of the skyline or a tighter composition isolating the IFC towers and the Central skyline cluster. A wide-angle lens in the 16-35mm range works well for capturing the full sweep of the city, while a telephoto lets you compress the layers of buildings for a denser, more dramatic effect. The pier itself, with its railings and lampposts, can serve as useful foreground elements. Blue hour is the standout time to shoot here, when the last daylight balances with the building lights and the harbour reflections are at their most vivid. The area is easily walkable from Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station. (Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong)
