Lacul Bucura
Lacul Bucura, the largest glacial lake in Romania, is nestled at over 2,000 meters in the heart of Retezat National Park. Surrounded by rugged peaks and alpine meadows, this remote lake provides photographers with breathtaking high-mountain scenery and crystal-clear reflections, especially during sunrise and sunset. Accessible via a moderate to strenuous hike from Cabana Pietrele or Cabana Gura Zlata, the journey offers ample photo opportunities, including wildflowers, marmots, and panoramic ridge views. Due to its altitude, summer is the best season for both access and photography, with early mornings offering the calmest waters for perfect mirror-like compositions. (Retezat National Park, Romania)
