Lake Champlain Bridge
The Lake Champlain Bridge is a graceful steel arch span crossing Lake Champlain between Vermont and New York, and its clean lines and waterfront setting give you a lot to work with photographically. The most compelling compositions come from the shoreline at either end, where you can use the curve of the arch against the open lake and distant Adirondack hills. The Vermont side at Chimney Point offers a slightly elevated vantage point, while the New York side puts you closer to the water for low, wide-angle shots that emphasize the bridge's reflection on calm mornings. Golden hour light is excellent here, especially in the morning when soft east light catches the arch and the lake surface is often still. A wide to mid-range zoom handles most situations well. Parking is available at both state historic sites, making access straightforward from either shore. (Chimney Point, Vermont, United States)
