Law Courts Inner Atrium
The Law Courts Inner Atrium is a striking modernist space beneath a vast sloping glass roof that floods the interior with diffused natural light, making it one of the most photogenic architectural interiors in Vancouver. The cascading greenhouse-style glazing creates soft, even illumination with no harsh shadows, ideal for shooting the building's tiered terraces, lush plantings, and geometric concrete forms. Try wide-angle compositions looking up toward the glass canopy to emphasize the scale and structure, or position yourself on one of the upper levels to capture the layered terraces descending below you. Overcast days work beautifully here since the glass diffuses light naturally, but bright midday sun can create interesting contrast as well. A wide-angle lens in the 16-24mm range suits the space well. Entry is free and the atrium is publicly accessible during court hours, so visit on a weekday when the space is open but not overly crowded. (Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada)
