Rising 62 storeys above West Georgia Street, the Shangri-La is Vancouver's tallest residential tower and a striking subject for architectural photography. The building's sleek glass facade shifts in tone depending on light conditions, reflecting the sky in ways that reward patience and timing. Shoot from street level looking straight up to exaggerate the tower's height and create dramatic converging lines, or step back toward the art installation outside MARKET restaurant for a wider environmental shot with street-level context. A wide-angle or ultra-wide lens works well for the upward perspective, while a longer focal length lets you isolate the upper floors against clouds or blue sky. Overcast days diffuse harsh shadows and bring out the cool, glassy tones of the facade, but golden hour adds warmth that contrasts beautifully with the reflective exterior. The sidewalk on Georgia Street gives easy access with no barriers. (Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada)
