Bridge 59, also known as the Lekkeresluis bridge, is one of Amsterdam's oldest stone arch bridges, dating to 1754, and the view from the canal bank here frames it beautifully against a classic stretch of Dutch canal houses. Position yourself low along the water's edge to capture the reflection of the bridge and the warm glow of the facades in the canal, and use a wider focal length, around 24 to 35mm, to take in the full scene without feeling cramped. Blue hour and early evening are when this spot truly shines; the canal lights and illuminated bridge arches reflect cleanly in the still water, and the ambient sky keeps detail in the buildings above. The towpath gives you room to shift your angle and find the most symmetrical reflection. Tripod use is recommended for low light work, and the spot is easy to reach on foot from the city center.
