Love Lane

Love Lane is a narrow alleyway tucked between Essex Street and the back of the Olympia Theatre, transformed by a local art initiative into a dense, layered mural corridor that rewards patient, curious photographers. Shoot from a low angle looking down the length of the lane to use the walls as converging lines that draw the eye deep into the frame, or get close to individual murals and let a wide or standard prime fill the shot with colour and detail. Overcast days work best here since the alley is narrow and direct sun creates harsh contrast and uneven patches of light. A 24mm to 50mm lens handles both tight detail shots and wider environmental compositions well. Take time to scan the walls carefully, as smaller painted details and layered textures easily go unnoticed at a glance and often make the strongest images. (Dublin, Ireland)
