About Lunenberg Waterfront

The scenic Lunenberg Waterfront is lined with a wooden wharf that provides amazing views looking out over Lunenberg Harbour. The wharfs are often lined with a wide variety of boats ranging from cute dories to the famous Bluenose. The waterfront sits in the heart of Old Town Lunenburg. These docks and fisheries, along with the painted houses climbing the hillside, have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1995. Mornings are usually quite calm so it's the perfect time to experiment with reflections. Crossing to the far side, or using a drone to get above, gives you the whole town stacked on its hill. Boats tie up along the wharves throughout the season, often ranging from small dories to working draggers to schooners. The historic Bluenose II is based here, though she spends time in other ports throughout the year you may get lucky enough to capture her in her home berth. (You can check the published schedule if you want a guarantee she is in town.) Fog rolls in off the Atlantic and changes the whole waterfront. The wharves are public and free to explore.
