Middle Falls
Middle Falls is the crown jewel of Letchworth State Park, a thundering 100-foot cascade dropping over a wide shale wall along the Genesee River gorge. The scale here is impressive, and the surrounding canyon walls draped in forest give you a natural frame that works beautifully from multiple vantage points. The main overlook platform puts you level with the falls and gives you a classic wide composition; a wider lens in the 16-35mm range captures both the full drop and the gorge walls on either side. Shoot in the morning when the sun hits the mist and the light is softer, or visit after heavy rain when the flow is at its most dramatic. A polarizing filter helps cut glare and deepen the greens.
