Mohave Point is one of the quieter stops along Hermit Road on the Grand Canyon's South Rim, offering an expansive, largely unobstructed view deep into the canyon where layered red and orange cliffs drop thousands of feet to the Colorado River below. The terraced geology here is especially dramatic, with multiple distinct rock formations stacking into the distance and the river curving just enough to catch the light at the right moment. Shoot wide to capture the full scale of the canyon walls, or zoom in on the ribbon of river and the white water of Granite and Hermit rapids far below. Sunrise brings soft, directional light that rakes across the cliff faces and deepens the colors; sunset turns everything amber and red. Hermit Road is closed to private vehicles, so arrive by shuttle or bicycle. A 24mm to 70mm zoom covers most compositions well from the rim edge. (Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona, United States)
