Trailview Overlook sits along the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park, offering a sweeping perspective of the canyon's layered geology and the winding Colorado River far below. Unlike some of the more crowded viewpoints, this spot rewards you with a broad, unobstructed panorama that includes portions of the Bright Angel Trail switchbacking down into the canyon, giving your compositions a sense of human scale against the vast landscape. A wide angle lens works well here for capturing the full expanse, while a telephoto lets you compress the distant buttes and pull out fine detail in the canyon walls. Shoot at golden hour, especially sunrise, when low light rakes across the rock layers and brings out the reds, oranges, and purples in the stratigraphy. The overlook is accessible from the Rim Trail, so you can easily reposition along the edge to find your ideal foreground. (Grand Canyon Village, Arizona, United States)
