Nikolaou Nomikou is a winding stepped street in Oia, Santorini, that puts you at eye level with the village's iconic blue-domed churches and cascading whitewashed architecture rather than looking up at them from below or down from above. This mid-level vantage point is what makes it special; you can frame the bell arches and domed roofs against the deep blue of the Aegean with clean, uncluttered backgrounds. From the main shopping path through Oia, follow the steps downward toward the hotel terraces and work your way along the lower path, pausing to find gaps between buildings that frame the domes tightly. A short to mid-range focal length in the 35-85mm range works well here. Golden hour before sunset draws crowds to the clifftops above, but this lower path stays quieter and catches warm directional light that brings out the texture of the volcanic stone walls.
