Position yourself along the cliff-edge pathways to frame the domes against the expanse of the caldera and the volcanic islands beyond. A telephoto lens in the 70-200mm range lets you compress the layers of architecture beautifully, while a wider lens works well for capturing the full sweep of the village spilling down the hillside. Sunset is the headline event here, drawing crowds, so arrive at least an hour early to claim your spot and shoot the warm golden light washing over the white facades.
