North Dock View
Positioned along the north side of North Dock, this spot gives you a direct line of sight across the water toward the glass towers of Canary Wharf, with the HSBC building rising prominently above the surrounding dock architecture. The canal itself becomes a strong compositional tool, use it as a leading line drawing the eye toward the financial district skyline, or look for reflections of the towers on calm water. A wide angle lens works well here to capture both the waterway and the full height of the buildings, though a short telephoto can compress the scene and isolate individual towers against the sky. Blue hour is the prime time to visit, when the ambient light balances with the building interiors lighting up and reflections are at their most vivid.
