Standing at roughly 50 meters tall, Nungnung is one of Bali's most dramatic waterfalls, sending a powerful single cascade into a misty jungle pool surrounded by dense green vegetation and volcanic rock walls. The best compositions frame the full drop from a distance, using the lush foliage on either side as a natural frame; a wide-angle lens works well here to capture both the height of the falls and the pool below. Get close to the base for a more intimate shot with mist in the air, which adds atmosphere and softens the light beautifully. Midmorning on overcast days is ideal since the canopy diffuses harsh shadows and keeps the greens saturated.
