About Nusfjord Lone House
This amazing red boathouse sits all by itself tucked away along the walk between Nusfjord village and the Nusfjord lighthouse. With the grey boulders and green slopes surrounding it, plus a steep wall of bare rock climbing out of the far side of the inlet this gem is irresistible. The red against grey stone and green grass is a classic Lofoten view. From the trail you can easily work your way down onto the rocks beside it and shoot along the shoreline. That will let you put the cabin off to one side, with the inlet and the far rock wall running into the distance behind it. If you prefer to stay up on the path instead, the long grass makes a soft foreground to highlight the rich pop of red. A bright sun will push the painted walls more toward shades of orange, so an overcast sky works better to hold the colours rich and even. Plus on still days you'll also get a clean reflection of the cabin in the water beside it. To get there, walk south from the harbour in Nusfjord along the road past the old cabins, then follow the trail through a patch of trees and meadow toward the lighthouse. There's public parking in the village, and sometimes during tourist season the village of Nusfjord charges an entrance fee. The cabin is privately owned so make sure to shoot it from the trail and the rocks. This is the perfect quick stop as you make your way out to the point and the Nusfjord fyr.
