This decommissioned railway bridge spans the Ottawa River between Ontario and Quebec, offering a striking combination of weathered industrial structure and wild river scenery that makes it a compelling subject from multiple angles. Walk out onto the bridge itself for strong leading lines stretching toward the Quebec shore, or shoot from the rocky banks below to frame the steel trusses against the sky and moving water. Early morning light is ideal, with mist often rising off the river in cooler months and soft golden tones hitting the rusted metalwork. A wide angle lens works well for dramatic foreground compositions using the tracks and ties, while a longer focal length compresses the background treeline nicely. The bridge is accessible on foot from Morris Island Drive, and the surrounding conservation area gives you additional shoreline positions to explore without much effort.
