Peggy's Cove Viewpoint
Peggy's Cove Viewpoint offers a quieter alternative to the crowded main platform, letting you photograph the iconic lighthouse from a slightly elevated, angled perspective that reveals more of the surrounding granite boulders and Atlantic coastline. From this position along the accessible trail, you can compose wide shots that place the lighthouse within the broader seascape, or use the smooth, wave-worn rock formations in the foreground to lead the eye toward it. Overcast days are ideal here, as flat light reduces harsh shadows on the pale granite and brings out the deep textures of the stone. Golden hour adds warmth to the red-topped lighthouse and creates dramatic reflections in the tidal pools scattered across the rocks. A wide-angle lens works best for capturing the full sweep of the landscape; wear non-slip footwear, as the rocks can be treacherous when wet. (Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia, Canada)
