Perth Airport Public Viewing Area

The Perth Airport Public Viewing Area sits on a low sand rise at the end of Dunreath Drive, looking out over the southern end of the main runways. The shelter over the top of the platform was built to mimic the shape of a Boeing 747's upper fuselage. The airport's central runway passes quite closely to the lookout, with a taxiway even closer, so you can get surprisingly detailed photographs. Since you will be standing to the west of the runway, afternoon light comes from behind you and lands on the aircraft. Everything else depends on which way the airport is operating when you visit. If landings are coming in on this end of the runway the aircraft will come in low right in front of you. It's best to take some time and check a flight tracker before you head out.
