Pine Island Double Falls

Pine Island Double Falls - Photo by Andrew Sawyer1 / 1

Located in the Daniel Boone National Forest, the Pine Island Double Falls are best visited after a rainfall. Soft morning light filtering through the dense canopy adds a magical atmosphere, while autumn transforms the scene with vibrant foliage. The trailhead is located off Forest Service Road 119, is not really well marked, but there is ample parking. Access via a 1 mile trail that is poorly marked in places, occasionally merging with a shallow stream. Wear boots as the rocks are slippery and it is a bit of a scramble to the falls at the end. This quiet spot is a fantastic destination for landscape and nature photographers seeking an off-the-beaten-path experience. (Daniel Boone National Forest, Kentucky, USA)
