Point Ormond Lookout is a small elevated hill in Elwood that gives you a surprisingly expansive view across Port Phillip Bay toward the Melbourne CBD skyline. The elevated perspective separates the city from the foreground water in a way that flat bayside spots cannot, and on clear days the skyline feels close enough to fill a telephoto frame. Sunset is the prime time to be here, with the city catching warm golden light to the west while the bay reflects the colours of the sky below you. A 70-200mm lens works well for compressing the skyline against the water, though a wider focal length lets you include the grassy hill and foreground. The lookout is easy to reach via a short walk up from the car park on Point Ormond Road, and the open hilltop gives you freedom to shift your angle and adjust framing as the light changes.
