Ponte da Arrábida is a large concrete arch bridge that first opened in 1963. When it first opened it held the record for the longest span of any concrete arch bridge in the world. The bridge carries six lanes of traffic over the Douro River and has a clean, powerful shape that really stands out when viewed from below or along the river front. The wide arch creates a strong visual curve that you can use as a leading line, especially when shooting from the riverbanks or nearby viewpoints. It works well for both wide shots that include the city and tighter compositions focusing on the structure itself. Light plays a big role here, with softer conditions helping bring out the shape of the bridge, while sunset adds warmth across the river and concrete. There are multiple access points along the Douro, making it easy to explore different angles. (Porto, Portugal)
