Ponte Vittorio Emanuele II
Ponte Vittorio Emanuele II is a historic bridge crossing the Tiber River in Rome, connecting the city centre with the area leading towards Vatican City. Completed in the early 20th century, the bridge is named after Italy’s first king and features detailed stonework and large sculptures. Its wide span and decorative elements make it stand out among Rome’s river crossings. From the bridge, there are clear views along the Tiber as well as toward St. Peter’s Basilica in the distance. The surrounding embankments and nearby streets provide multiple angles, with the arches of the bridge and the river below creating strong lines through the scene. Early morning and evening light add warmth to the stone and help bring out detail in the sculptures. (Rome, Italy)
