About Portland Japanese Garden
The Portland Japanese Garden is a calm, beautifully kept spot sitting tucked away in Portland's leafy West Hills, just above Washington Park and a short walk from the International Rose Test Garden. Often called one of the most authentic Japanese gardens outside Japan, carefully curated grounds are packed with a traditional tea house, winding streams, koi ponds, stone lanterns, mossy paths and little bridges that make it photogenic everywhere you look. If you set up on the Pavilion terrace on a clear day you'll have a great view of Mount Hood. Overcast days are the best time to be here since soft, even light makes the greens really pop. During the fall season the Japanese maples create views filled with brilliant red and orange tones. The garden is open every day except Tuesday, and there is an admission fee. Aim to arrive early if you are looking for quieter paths and cleaner compositions. (Portland, Oregon, USA)
