Prebends' Bridge is a handsome 18th-century stone arch bridge crossing the River Wear in Durham, framed by dense woodland and occasionally offering glimpses of Durham Cathedral's towers rising above the treeline. The classic composition is from the riverbank below, shooting along the water to capture the bridge's three arches reflected in the surface, especially effective when the river is calm and the light is soft. Autumn transforms the surrounding trees into warm reds and golds that wrap around the bridge beautifully. Early morning gives you the best chance of still water and mist sitting low on the river, with gentle light filtering through the canopy. A wide to standard focal length works well from the bank, while stepping back along the towpath gives you a fuller view of the bridge in its wooded setting. The path along the river is easy to walk and accessible year-round. (Durham, England, United Kingdom)
