Rainbow by Marcus Canning

Rainbow is a soaring archway made up of nine recycled shipping containers sitting beside the Canning Highway on the way into Fremantle. Marcus Canning built it in 2016 for the city, painting the containers through the spectrum and craning them into place in a single day. The archway sits in the middle of a public park so there is lots of space to experiment with the best composition so suit your shooting style. You can easily get underneath it and shoot up through the arch to shot a sense off scale or back off toward the highway and capture the whole span against the sky. The Swan River and the port sit to the west, so late sun comes through the containers from behind. You can park down the hill at the East Street Jetty on Beach Street and walk up in a couple of minutes. Since it sits in a public park the archway is open at any hour so you can experiment with capturing it in a variety of lights. (Fremantle, Western Australia, Australia)
